Farm to School BC

Supporting BC schools since 2007.

Coinciding with Farm to School month, we are pleased to announce our Farm to School BC Grants are now open and accepting applications until November 15th

We offer two types of grants: The 3K ($3,000) and The 1K ($1,000). Our grants are designed to support K-12 schools in what is currently known as British Columbia in developing their school food programs. Our goal is to support more schools and communities in coming together around exploring, growing, harvesting, cooking, eating and celebrating foods.

We have been empowering and equipping educators with the tools they need to engage in enriching farm to school activities with their students since 2007. We’re thrilled to launch another cycle!

Underserved School Communities.

A total of 30 grants will be distributed this year across the province with a priority of 50% of all funding dedicated to supporting rural/remote and First Nations schools. We hope to bring more farm to school (also known as Food to School, Land to School, Sea to School) initiatives into these communities, so please apply or recommend these grants to schools in your area.

*Rural schools are defined as communities with a population of less than 20,000. Remote schools are defined as communities with a population of less than 1000. A First Nations school refers to a school located on-reserve and operated and administered by one or more First Nations in BC.

The $3K Grant

This $3,000 grant is ideal for schools with a strong vision and a supportive team of stakeholders to take on larger more elaborate projects.

Projects may encompass garden bed construction, indigenous plant gardens, small-scale farms, more advanced indoor growing systems, and beyond.

Apply for $3k

The $1K Grant

This $1,000 grant is great for projects and investments with smaller goals and timelines and for minor additions to existing projects and programs.

These may include local food foraging, cooking activities, farm field trips, indoor growing spaces, and food literacy lesson plans.

Apply for $1k
